Things to see and do.

The area offers river and lake fishing (Licence required - €7), river beaches, canoeing, walks and a ten pin bowling alley. Not to be missed is a visit to the magnificent Bucaco Palace Hotel, once the property of the Portuguese Royal family, stroll in the gardens and explore the woodland pathways. Of particular interest is the Moorish fort in Lousa and medieval castles in Penela, the Knights Templar castle in Tomar and the immense Montemor-o-Velho Castle on the way to the seaside resort of Figueira da Foz. A short drive away is the town of Penacova with a spectacular panoramic view of the Mondego River valley with beaches and village houses that cling to the hillsides.

About 30 minutes drive is the beautiful and historical university city of Coimbra once the capital of Portugal and explore the city's maze of streets and shops.

On the other hand you may just wish to spend time relaxing by the pool or alternatively have a session of reflexology or massage given by Bella, an ITEC-qualified reflexology and massage therapist who has a studio on site.

Local Special Recreation & Events

Motorbike Enthusiasts: An annual international gathering of some 20,000 bikers is held in the nearby town of Gois from 18 to 21 August.

Anglers: River and lake fly fishing for Trout, Carp, Bass to name a few.

Kiaking: Kiaking on the Mondego river at Penacova.
